For our mobile workforce, devices such as smartphones and tablets have become an increasingly popular way for users to wirelessly access the Internet, E-mail, contacts, and calendars. Although IT does not support personally-owned mobile devices, the following reference information is provided to help you quickly configure your device when accessing SRJC resources.
Wireless Internet Access
For SRJC Faculty, Staff and Management Team members (non-student employees) with personal mobile devices, the Information Technology department offers a more flexible wireless network to meet the needs for mobility. This network offers encryption and always-on connectivity without requiring an acceptable use policy agreement each time connecting. Internet resources are available through all standard connection types, but access to SRJC internal network resources is limited to only those that are already publicly available from off-campus such as web services, E-mail and Citrix access.
Terms & Conditions of Use
The SRJC Mobile wireless network provided by Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) is for use by SRJC employees of the college. The FCC has a website where you can look up your smartphone and get information about security. There are some great tips in these pages to help make your mobile experience as secure as possible.
SRJC E-mail, Contacts, and Calendars on Your Mobile Device
The following guides are provided from manufacturers and provide steps to set up your mobile device so you may access SRJC E-mail, contacts, and calendars. The guides and software on the phone you are using are subject to change by the manufacturers, and IT does not guarantee that the configurations will work.
Remember, IT cannot guarantee that the configurations listed below will work for you. The guides below are for over-the-air synchronization only. IT will not install mobile device synchronization software on your computer. Do not contact IT about your mobile device; you must contact the manufacturers directly for assistance.
When you have set up your mobile device to access your SRJC account, IT recommends that you also set up an auto screen lock on the equipment, and, if possible, set a passcode for the lock screen.
SRJC requires employees to change their password every 6 months. If you have set up your mobile device to check your SRJC email, when you change your password, you will also have to change the password associated with your SRJC email account on your mobile device. If you do not do this, you will not be able to send or receive email on your mobile device.
